Just a nerdy Animal Science major sharing notes, posting photos that make good studying aids, and occasionally venting. You will find info on several classes including Intro to Animal Science (Dr. Hembry), Meats (Dr. D. Johnson), Growth & Development (Dr. S. Johnson), Genetics (Dr. Kenworthy) ** all entries prior to Aug 2009 are Intro to Animal Science **

Dr. Sally Johnson

I encourage everyone who is taking (or has taken) Dr. Sally Johnson's Growth & Development class to leave a review on ratemyprofessors.com as it will prepare her next batch of victims for the torture. There was no review for her before I registered for the class and I wish I would have known what was in store.

I'm going to vent a bit now since ratemyprofessors.com limited me to 350 characters (of which I used all).

How can a professor teach out of two different textbooks yet only list them as Suggested Texts? And from there, when you do reference the text books, none of the information matches up? It's as if you never actually read the text, just scanned it, and based your lectures on the quick summaries found throughout the chapter, but gave them your own spin... yeah, its that far removed from the real topic at hand. You use words interchangeably which would be fine if I were well versed in the topic. Don't call it one thing throughout the lecture then refer to it by another name on the test. And Dr. Johnson, don't be rude when a student asks a question in eLearning! For goodness sakes, we all REALLY want to understand what you're talking about but we are not grad students. I listen in class, I take notes, and I really do follow along but somehow I'm not hearing what you're trying to say (and it's not because of your lack of vocal projection or microphone usage though that is an issue). The only powerpoints that make any sense are the ones that you didn't make. There needs to be more that four words on a slide. The guest lecturer slides were awesome. I feel that there should have been a class in between Biology 2 and your class. No matter how much I study, no matter what I study, it's never enough and its never the correct material. We've had three exams and all three exams you have had to change the format because the class is performing so poorly. We can't all be poor test-takers. Maybe the awful scores are indicative of something else? I'm just saying...

oh goodness. This was just a quick rambling of what is currently on my mind. It goes so much deeper. You are the source of countless headaches and ulcers.

MEATS- Pork Cuts

I'm pretty sure that the cuts are labeled correctly but there is always a chance that I am wrong.
These can also be viewed at photobucket.com/UFmeats2009.
